IIS: The source of my frustration

Can I recommend against hosting IIS websites straight out of your build folders? Today I had the case where in the end it seemed like IIS's shadow copying was failing to notice that some of my built dlls had changed and was serving up an old version of my dll.  VERY PERPLEXING.
